History of reality tv.

History of reality tv The hidden camera show, Candid Camera, often identified as the first reality TV show, premiered on the ABC network in 1948 with the title Candid Microphone, reflecting the show's roots as a radio program (various versions of the TV show aired from 1948 to 2014).   Reality became most prominent in the early 2000s with the success of the series  survivor, idols and big brother, all of which became global franchises. Reality TV shows have developed from shows like survivor to things like love island, making the whole genre more popular as approximately four in ten people  watch reality shows to some extent.

Popularity of TV shows.

Popularity of tv shows: Around 70% of UK tv watch reality tv shows on a regular basis in 2017, 18% of the 250 most popular shows was made up by reality tv show in the UK is ‘survivor’ or ‘love island’. For example, I’m a celebrity is a popular reality tv show as the public feel as though they have a sense of power where they are incorporated in the show. They have the option to vote people for trials or to vote them in or out. Its also a popular watch as they have different trials each year so that it keeps it engaging and the audience feel satisfied. As well as that, the duration of the show varie3s from just under an hour to over, but because of the content it keeps the audience engaged.   The show's concept can be explained as  a group of single, mid-twenties, conventionally at-tractive people being put in a villa on an island to “couple up” in order to remain on the island . Those not in couples for recoupling ceremonies will be dumped from the island and fo...

I'm a celebrity get me out of here.

Image
I’m a celebrity . In the poster, we can see the main colours of green and blue which confirms to the audiences that the main idea of the tv show is that the celebrities are going to be isolated in a jungle. The target audience would be middle class families as the hosts of the show, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, make jokes centred around making fun of the upper class and those who are more privileged. The target audience would enjoy watching the show as its entertaining for those who are watching as they get a sense of power from controlling the celebrity’s life during the duration of the show.

X-Factor.

Image
X-Factor: In the poster, the main image projects the hosts of the show onto a billboard which could suggest that the point of the show is to find talent and make something of them. As well as that they have a colour scheme of white, blue, red, gold and black which are common colours often associated with luxury and glamorous living. They have used the colour white in a specific way to show that there’s cameras flashing taking pictures reinforcing the imagery of fame. The tag line “it’s time to face the music” gives the impression that it’s a music competition which could appeal to the target audience they’d be interested in seeing people compete with talent. Looking at the main image, its clear that they want the target audience to know that the whole show is about creating fame.

Hell's Kitchen.

Image
Hell’s kitchen: In the poster, there is a main image of Gordon Ramsey which gives the impression that the main target audience are people that are fans of him and are middle aged or are fans of cooking shows. The poster would be intriguing for the target audience as they can get the sense that it isn’t an ordinary cooking show as the colour scheme contains reds, oranges, whites, and blacks which suggests it will be different as the colours are quite harsh compares to other posters, this gives the idea to the target audience that the cooking show may be more for entertainment than educational. This is reinforced by the tag line “if looks could grill.” As well as the devils fork in the word hell. The font also adds to the devil and hell imager as the font is long and draping much like how devils are described in paintings and books. In the main image, he’s wearing a chefs uniform which describes that he is the main chef in the show, and someone that is going to be in the show all...

Statement of Intent.

STATEMENT OF INTENT: In my poster for ‘table for two’ The main colour scheme will be red, to represent wine and other things they drink on dates, green, to represent the vegetables, blue, to show the text and then black to show and represent the depth of the people in the show. The advert would appeal to the target audience as it would attract those who enjoy dating shows and those who like to see cooking. I will also carefully consider the factor of age when applying my advert to the target population, I will make sure that the advert remains appropriate for those who are younger than fifteen but also consider that it still must attract people of all ages. The only adult thing that might be in the advert which is not appropriate for young children is the presence of alcohol. There will be multiple images of different types of food and deserts and drinks, so the posters are acceptable for children as it contains nothing that is inappropriate and would be appropriate for them to...
